Born
in Malta in 1992, Thea has been studying vocal
technique and interpretation under the direction of
soprano Gillian Zammit since 1999. She also studied
musical theatre at Masquerade Theatre School for ten
years during which time she obtained qualifications
in Musical Theatre, Voice Techniques and Drama from
Trinity Guildhall College.
Thea was a member of Enkor, a gospel/classical
choir, with whom she also performed as a soloist.
She is currently the most sought after singer to
sing classical music with orchestras and bands in
Malta, and has very recently sung Habanera from the
Opera Carmen in an international ballet conference.
Thea’s love for singing led her to Sylvia Young
Theatre School in London where she was vocally
coached by Mr Ray Lamb for two consecutive summers.
Whilst in London she was handpicked to record at the
West End as backing vocalist. Thea auditioned for
the British ‘Voice of Tomorrow’ contest, and managed
to make it through with the final thirty
contestants, giving her the opportunity to attend
ten sessions of training in Musical Theatre by
leading tutors at the West End.
Thea’s voice also mesmerized famous Italian singer,
Gigi D’Alessio who asked her to sing on the opening
night of his 2009 World Tour in Rome. On another
occasion, in Milan Gigi accompanied Thea on his
piano whilst she sang one of his favourite songs as
a soloist.
In 2010 Thea represented Malta in the Eurovision
Song Contest with the song ‘My Dream” composed by
Jason Cassar and lyrics by Sunny Aquilina. After
that, Jason and Sunny teamed up again to pen the
song ‘In Our Love’, which Thea launched with Polish
singer Marcin Mroziński. Two other singles launched
by Thea this year are ‘Frontline’ and ‘Walk on By’,
by Dean Muscat and John Galea.
Thea’s favorite genre of music includes classical
and semi-classical as well as songs from musicals.
Her dream is to perform at the West End in London.
